PA farming officials visit Berks County for industry update | Reading Area

SPRING TWP., Pa. – Some of the state’s top farming officials stopped in Berks County to give an update on the state of the industry.

Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and state veterinarian Alex Hamberg spoke at Penn State Berks in Spring Township.

Redding discussed workforce challenges and how changing tastes are forcing changes in the dairy industry.

Hamberg talked about bird flu and other illnesses that affect farm animals and the importance of early detection.
