Zahav Foods, the company tied to Philadelphia‘s MICHELIN-recommended Zahav restaurant, has introduced two new hummus flavors to the market — Zahav Hummus Matbucha and Zahav Hummus Harissa.
The hummus flavors are now available at 185 Whole Foods Market locations in 20 states across Pennsylvania, the mid-Atlantic, the North Atlantic, the DMV, Colorado, and the South Pacific regions. Consumers in key markets, including Boston; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C.; Phoenix; Denver; Los Angeles; and San Diego, will have access to these products.
Zahav Foods launched its restaurant-inspired hummus in Whole Foods in January 2024 and expanded nationwide by the following year. The CPG brand was co-founded in 2024 by five-time James Beard Award-winning hospitality entrepreneurs Chef Michael Solomonov and Steven Cook of the MICHELIN-Recommended Zahav and Laser Wolf in Philadelphia.
According to a news release, Zahav Hummus centers on a six-ingredient base (tehina, chickpeas, lemon juice, salt, cumin, and garlic). It features four times more premium roasted tehina from Soom Foods for a distinctive tehina-forward profile. The new Matbucha and Harissa flavors join Zahav’s line of hummus and schug, using a tehina-forward base with no added oil or preservatives.
Each 10-ounce jar is priced at $7.99. All varieties are non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher, and seed-oil free.
All four Zahav Hummus SKUs — Classic, Matbucha, Harissa, and Schug — are set to be carried by retailers like Bristol Farms, Giant, Barons Market, Harris Teeter, and McCaffrey’s Markets, with expansion to 51 Giant stores and 217 Harris Teeter locations, according to the release.
“For Solomonov and Cook, Zahav Foods represents 18 years — since Zahav Restaurant’s founding — of refining a single dish to its ideal form. The hummus that opens every meal at Zahav is now available at home too — as a starter, a centerpiece, or a dip worth building a meal around,” the release stated.
