Heavy Snow And Power Outages Likely
According to the weather service, 6 to 11 inches of snow could fall, especially in the higher areas of northwest Pennsylvania.
The snow will be wet and heavy, which may cause tree damage and power outages since many trees still have leaves.
Snow could fall at 1 to 2 inches per hour in the strongest snow bands.
Dangerous Travel Conditions
The NWS warned that roads, bridges, and overpasses will likely become slippery and hazardous. Visibility could drop to less than ¼ mile during heavy snow, making travel dangerous.
The Monday morning and evening commutes may be especially affected.
Authorities are advising residents to avoid unnecessary travel. If driving is essential, motorists should carry extra food, water, and a flashlight in case of emergencies. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission have urged drivers to follow all travel restrictions.
The NWS also reminded the public that during lake effect snow, conditions can change rapidly, some areas may experience heavy snow while others remain dry just a few miles away.
