READING, Pa. – Reading police arrested a man Monday morning after an investigation into an alleged attempt to arrange a meeting with a minor.

According to a news release from the city, Luis Rivera, 38, of Cincinnati, Ohio, allegedly arranged to meet what he believed was a 15-year-old girl at Pendora Park in the City of Reading. Police say the individual was an undercover officer posing as a minor.

At approximately 8:05 a.m. on Monday, Rivera arrived at the park and communicated with the undercover officer, telling her he had just arrived. Members of the Reading Police Department’s Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division then took Rivera into custody without incident.

Authorities say Rivera was charged with Unlawful Contact with a Minor and related offenses. He is awaiting arraignment.

Criminal charges are accusations only. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
