Pennsylvania Anti-Human Trafficking Caucus celebrates new laws to combat trafficking
The Pennsylvania Anti-Human Trafficking Caucus is celebrating the passage of two new laws this week aimed at preventing human trafficking and protecting victims.
Act 31 requires mandatory human trafficking awareness training for workers in Pennsylvania’s hospitality industry. Act 41 increases criminal penalties for those who exploit vulnerable individuals who have been groomed, manipulated, and forced into trafficking.
“We’re all united through humanity,” the caucus said. “This is an opportunity to show how you can help somebody and love them in a correct way.”
The caucus stated that human trafficking leads to the exploitation and enslavement of millions of women and children every year and generates more than $150 billion illegally worldwide.
