Pennsylvania to roll out statewide rape kit tracking system in December
Pennsylvania will implement a statewide rape kit tracking system in December, allowing victims to stay informed about the progress of their cases.
The initiative is the result of a law signed in 2024 and has been tested since August in Lancaster, York, and Erie counties.
“From what we’ve seen so far, this is very positive, and this is progress. The system is easy for our people to use. It provides extra oversight. It creates transparency, and it benefits our survivors,” said York City Police Captain Matthew Irvin.
“Survivors and advocates have kept asking us to look, to listen, to act. Today, Pennsylvania is doing just that,” said Joyce Lukima with the Pennsylvania Coalition to Advance Respect.
The statewide rollout is slated for December.
