The City of Erie’s Bureau of Streets says crews and equipment are standing by as winter weather approaches, with salt spreaders and plows already pre-treating streets, according to a spokesperson on Sunday.

A third shift begins at 11 p.m.

Residents are reminded to follow odd–even parking rules to help crews clear roads efficiently. During weekday snowfalls, crews will focus on odd–even areas from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., then shift to other neighborhoods after 4 p.m., city officials say. Downtown Erie is plowed overnight from 2 to 6 a.m.

Drivers are asked to stay at least 50 feet behind snowplows for safety.

The city also advises residents not to rake or blow leaves into the street. Snowplows will push leaves back onto lawns, and wet leaves can create slippery conditions. Residents are asked to use compostable bags or containers instead.

Drivers can report poor road conditions by calling 814-870-1340.
