Winning lottery ticket sold at BP gas station

PITTSBURGH —

A winning lottery ticket for a lifetime prize of a half-million dollars every year has been sold at a Pittsburgh gas station.

Lottery officials said a winning ticket in the $500,000 a Year for Life scratch-off game was sold at BP on East Warrington Avenue, which is in the city’s Allentown neighborhood.

The winner has not been identified. They can take annual payments of $500,000 or choose a one-time cash prize of $7.25 million.

“Scratch-Offs are distributed at random, meaning the Pennsylvania Lottery and its retailers do not know where winning tickets will be sold. The Lottery learns where winning tickets are sold only after a prize has been claimed,” lottery officials said in the announcement.

The scratch-off game costs $20 to play.

Lottery officials said a bonus of $10,000 will go to the retailer for selling the lucky ticket.
