Crews respond to Perry County house explosion | Road closed

Emergency crews are at the scene of a house explosion in Perry County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Troopers from the Newport Barracks were called to a home in the 100 block of Juniata Parkway East in Howe Township around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday for a report of an explosion.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured or inside the house at the time.

According to PennDOT, Juniata Parkway East is closed in both directions between Shortcut and Gypsy Hollow roads.

State police are investigating the cause of the explosion.

No further information has been released at this time.

“On September 30, 2026, at approximately 05:30 a.m. Members of the Pennsylvania State Police Newport Barracks were dispatched to the 100 Block of Juniata Parkway East, Howe Township, Perry County, PA for the report of a house explosion.

“The Pennsylvania State Police are currently on scene and investigating the cause of the explosion.”
