WYOMISSING, Pa. –– Penn State Berks will host a Sustainable Self-Care Fair and Flea Market from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, in the Perkins Plaza. This event will provide information that enables people to take care of themselves in a socially and environmentally responsible manner. Attendees will receive free samples and prizes will be awarded. Attendees are also invited to shop at the flea market. The fair focuses on education surrounding the use of sustainable self-care products, harmful effects and ways to reduce product waste, environmental and social issues related to self-care products, an introduction to ecotherapy, and relaxing hobbies that connect with nature such as gardening, birding and candle making. There will also be information about plogging, the fitness trend of picking up litter while jogging, and a plogging adventure will begin at 12:45 p.m.

Community organizations will also have stations at the fair, including the Baird Ornithological Club of Berks County, Berks Agriculture Resource Network, Berks County Earth Day Committee, Berks Encore, the Green Building Alliance, Kulu Kamala Foundation and Sacred Threads Farm, Penn State Master Gardeners of Berks County, and What’SUP Berks, as well as several of the colleges offices, degree programs and student organizations.
