The Bridgeport Police Department posted video of the incident to its Facebook page, writing, “When a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended, you MUST stop. Saving a few seconds is not worth putting a child’s life at risk.”
The police department said the video “is one example of what our school bus drivers and students are encountering on our roads.”
The school buses in Bridgeport were recently equipped with a camera system that documents vehicles that illegally pass stopped school buses, according to the police department.
The video serves as a reminder to drivers to follow traffic laws, particularly regarding school buses, as the school year is underway.
