A pair of dogs that were rescued from a Manayunk home during a deadly fire on Thursday are now seeking new homes, officials with ACCT Philly said.
In that fire, that happened at a rowhome along the 4000 block of Fleming Street in Philly’s Manayunk community, a woman who was identified by family members as Janice Flemming, 62, was killed in the flames.
Neighbors told NBC10 the Flemming had initially made it out of the burning home but returned to rescue her dogs.
One dog, ACCT Philly said, did die at the scene.
But, a pair of senior dogs, named Champ and Cocoa, were saved.
And now, ACCT Philly said, they are looking for new homes.
In a message to NBC10, ACCT Philly said the senior dogs are “urgently need placement due to medical concerns related to smoke inhalation,” and noted that both are “incredibly sweet.”
“We are looking for an adopter or rescue able to manage their medical needs while they recover,” ACCT Philly wrote in a statement to NBC10.
