In a 20-minute YouTube video, Tomlin showed off his Minecraft city, saying he has been working on the project for more than 12 years.

According to ESPN, Tomlin became intrigued by the game after watching his kids play it in middle school, saying the game helped accelerate his previous interest in architecture.

“Over the course of time, [my kids] got just disinterested in the game. They go on to high school and so forth and off to college. Their participation became less and less over the years. My participation probably at times increased,” Tomlin said, laughing. “At different times over the course of a 12-month calendar, I would have different levels of fixation on this.”

“I’m not a big TV watcher,” he continued. “It allowed me to detach from the realities and the pressures of life.”

Tomlin stepped down as the Steelers’ head coach after more than 19 seasons on Jan. 13, 2026. He was the NFL’s longest-tenured head coach until his departure.

He has since joined NBC Sports as an analyst.
