PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team continues Ivy League play Saturday, welcoming Brown to Rhodes Field for a 7 p.m. matchup. The contest marks the Quakers’ first Ivy League home game of the season as they look to bounce back from a 4-0 loss at Dartmouth in their conference opener, while the Bears bring a three-game winning streak into Saturday’s game.

Penn vs. Brown Series
*Saturday’s contest will be the 38th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Brown holding a 20-13-5 advantage.

*The Bears won last year’s meeting, 4-0. Brown has won six of the last seven contests between the two programs.

*The last time the two squads met at Rhodes Field, they played to a 0-0 draw. Lily White led Penn with three shots.

*The Quakers are 8-5-1 all time against the Bears at home.

*Penn concluded nonconference play on a high note, winning four consecutive games, its longest winning streak since the 2018 season. The Quakers outscored their opponents, 8-1, during the winning streak while recording three shutouts. Additionally, the Red and Blue’s five nonconference wins are their most since 2021.

*The Quakers also posted a strong month of September, going 4-2 and recording three shutouts.

*Penn currently ranks in the top half of the Ivy League in goals allowed, save percentage, corner kicks and goals-against average.

*Most recently, the Red and Blue fell to Dartmouth, 4-0, to begin Ivy League play. Despite the loss, Penn outshot the Big Green, 9-8, including a 7-4 advantage in shots in the second half.

*The Red and Blue have outshot their opponents in six of 10 games this season.

*Senior Mia Fuss has paced the Quakers offensively this season. She leads the team with four goals and nine points, including back-to-back game-winning goals against Jefferson and St. John’s. Fuss’ four goals are tied for fourth in the conference, while her nine points are tied for sixth. Her three game-winning goals are tied for the most in the Ivy League. The Austin, Texas, native also earned Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.

*Senior Abbey Cook continues to put pressure on opposing defenses. She has recorded multiple shots in six matches this season, including two in the conference opener. Cook leads the Red and Blue with 18 shots and is the only Quaker with double-digit shots on goal, recording 10.

*Cook and sophomore Casey Forman have each scored twice this season, joining Fuss as Penn players with multiple goals. Lily White, Camarin Choi and Magali Capdevila have also found the back of the net.

*White leads the Quakers with three assists, while Capdevila and Hailey Adamsky have each recorded two.

*Goalkeeper Megan Graves has been strong between the pipes, ranking third in the Ivy League in save percentage (.700) and tied for third in goals-against average (1.06) among Ivy League goalkeepers.

*Penn is unbeaten at Rhodes Field this season, going 3-0-1 while outscoring opponents, 9-2. The team’s season highs in goals, assists, points, shots and shots on goal have all come at home this season.

Scouting the Bears
*Brown enters Saturday’s matchup with a 7-2-1 record and a three-game winning streak.

*The Bears have not lost since August and finished September with a 5-0-1 record. They outscored their opponents, 22-2, during the month.

*Most recently, Brown defeated Columbia, 4-0, to begin its Ivy League campaign. Four different players found the back of the net, with Brooke Birtwistle, Angelina Vargas, Joy Okonye and Anya Tansil each recording a goal.

*The Bears have scored 10 goals over their last three contests, recording double-digit scoring totals over that span.

*Brown has recorded four or more goals in back-to-back games twice this season. The program has now accomplished the feat four times over the last four seasons.

*The Bears recorded a signature nonconference victory earlier this season, defeating No. 13 UCF, 7-0. Brown’s 22 points and seven goals in that contest are both Ivy League highs for a single game this season.

*Brown currently leads the conference in scoring margin (1.70), ranks second in goals (27) and is tied for third in goals allowed (10).

*The Bears also rank in the top half of the conference in several offensive categories, including shots (second), corner kicks (second), points (second) and assists (first).

*Brown’s offense has been well balanced, with 16 different players recording at least one point and nine players totaling five or more points.

*Additionally, the Bears have eight players with multiple goals.

*Joy Okonye and Angelina Vargas have been at the forefront of the Brown offense. Vargas leads the team with six goals, which ranks third in the conference. Okonye and Vargas are tied for the team lead with 12 points, a total that ranks fourth in the Ivy League. Okonye leads the Bears with six assists, tied for second in the conference.

*Okonye and Vargas have combined to earn two Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors. Okonye was also named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Midseason Watch List.

*Sophomore Addison Etter and senior Gurleen Toor have split time in goal this season, with Etter starting the past six contests. The Riegelsville, Pennsylvania, native has posted five wins this season to go along with 15 saves and three shutouts.
