Yasmin Edwards netted a crucial equaliser just before half-time in the 1-1 draw at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
The home side initially took the lead in the 37th minute, with Ellie Szekeres finding the back of the net after two previous disallowed goals for offside.
Oxford City, however, quickly responded, levelling the match six minutes later through Edwards, whose pinpoint header from a corner left Reading goalkeeper Sophie Butler helpless.
The first half saw missed opportunities for both teams, with Reading having a goal disallowed in the 7th minute for offside.
Kate Parsons also made several attempts, but her strike was well saved by Butler.
The second half started with both teams pushing to get ahead, but Reading was denied by Oxford City’s goalkeeper Aimee Flood, who made a superb close-range save.
Emily Harris, known for her pace, posed a continuous threat for the visitors down the right flank, delivering promising crosses into the box.
Unfortunately, one of these crosses just missed Edwards, denying her a second goal.

Reading nearly broke through in the 73rd minute, but commendable defending by City, particularly by captain Grace Craven, kept the game level.
Flood was called into action again in the 81st minute, expertly tipping a close-range shot onto the crossbar, keeping Oxford City in the game.
As the match drew to a close, Oxford City was reduced to ten players after Harris was sin-binned following a puzzling interaction with the referee.
Despite the pressure, Oxford City held on, putting in a solid defensive display to secure a valuable point against a determined Reading side.
