Mark Little was an Allentown barber who spent much of his life giving back to the community and giving to others without expecting anything in return, according to his family.
Little, 59, was fatally shot on his front porch in the 600 block of West Gordon Street in what his family called a random act of gun violence. A 39-year-old Allentown man is charged with homicide in the killing.
Now, his family is asking for the community’s help.
Little’s family started a GoFundMe Wednesday to help pay for funeral expenses and other costs associated with his death.
Little, they said, was a barber who gave free haircuts to people who could not afford them, and helped people financially when he could. He showed up for people, they said.
“Our dad was a barber, but to so many people in this community, he was much more than that,” they wrote on the GoFundMe. “His barber chair was a place where people came not only for a haircut, but for conversation, advice, encouragement, laughter, and sometimes simply someone who would listen.”
As of Friday, about $16,000 of its $26,000 goal has been raised. Those who wish to donate may do so at gofund.me/2b62d3feb.
