Lackawanna College overcame a three-point deficit in the final two-plus minutes to defeat SUNY-Onondaga, 64-61, in the Lazer Tip-Off Classic on Sunday in Syracuse, New York.

Down, 59-56, Noah Elias hit consecutive 3-pointers — his lone baskets of the game — to give the Falcons a 62-59 lead with 1:34 left. Onondaga (3-1) closed to within one with 31 seconds to go, but Xavier Spears hit two free throws for Lackawanna. Onondaga missed a potential game-tying shot at the buzzer.

Latrell Mark had 16 points to lead Lackawanna (4-1), which has won four straight. Khalil Kemp added nine points off the bench.

VTSU Randolph 76, Keystone 65: At Johnson, Vermont, Keystone College lost in the championship game of the Vermont State University Tip-Off Classic.

Jden Goulding led the Giants (1-1) with 19 points, nine assists and five rebounds. Ahmodrion Jones and PJ Murphy each added 12 points, with Jones grabbing eight rebounds and Murphy collecting seven. Demetrius Thomas had nine points and 12 rebounds, while Josh Brown contributed seven points and four assists.

Field hockey

Winning the Landmark Conference championship earned the University of Scranton an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. The Royals (17-3) will travel to Bowdoin College (9-7) for a first-round matchup Wednesday at 4 p.m. The tournament field was announced Sunday night.

Wednesday’s winner advances to the second round, hosted by Babson College, on Saturday.

Wrestling

At Winchester, Virginia, the University of Scranton split a tri-match. The Royals defeated Penn Highlands Community College, 41-18, before losing to host Shenandoah University, 53-6.

Charles Arobone (133) and Jack McCaffrey (184) each won by pin against Penn Highlands and Donell Young (174) won by technical fall. Mark Ortiz (125), Luke Burke (157), Charles Kitching (165) and Max Shnipes (285) each had forfeit wins.

Against Shenandoah, Max Shnipes (285) had Scranton’s lone points with a pin.

Women’s wrestling

At Hackettstown, New Jersey, Lackawanna College competed in its first team duals, losing to Centenary University, 25-14, and Muhlenberg College, 32-2.

Hailey Schumaker won her match at 207 against Centenary by a 10-0 technical fall.
