The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority has announced over $400 million in Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Grants, and some of that money is coming to Indiana County.
This marks the first round of BEAD grants to be awarded to projects after the National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved more than $700 million in BEAD funding for Pennsylvania in April. The funding will support broadband projects that include a diverse mix of technologies including fiber and fixed wireless, for use in long-term leases; multifamily residential deployment; planning, design, and engineering; personnel costs; physical improvements; and network software upgrades. Projects that receive funding require a matching a minimum of 25% share of the total project cost.
eCommunity Holdings will receive $84,164,947 for 14,571 fiber projects for 12 counties, including Indiana and Armstrong Counties.
