The Steelers made a bold move last week, trading Joey Porter Jr. to the Cowboys and ending months of speculation about his future in Pittsburgh. Current Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey clearly still supports his former teammate.
Ramsey made sure to shout out Porter when the new Dallas star made his season debut with the Cowboys on Sunday, posting “Tapped in brother” on social media.

Porter played 24 of the Cowboys’ 52 defensive snaps (46.2 percent) and did not allow a catch in Dallas’ 34-30 win against Houston.
“I was missing playing football, so the fact that I got out there, got the dub with the guys, man, that’s a blessing. … They were happy for me,” Porter said.
Porter believed he was in line for an extension with the Steelers before the trade. However, Pittsburgh’s front office doesn’t engage in contract negotiations after the season has started, and with Porter’s back issue and failed discussions hanging over the team, the Steelers sent him to Dallas.
When Porter was still on the team, Ramsey emphasized the importance of having Porter as part of the secondary.
“They got to pay Joey Porter, and we need got some other guys that are out as well. … I’m overly in Joey’s corner,” Ramsey said. “Joey needs to get compensated for being a valuable part of this secondary and a valuable part of this defense and team.”
Porter and the Cowboys do not face Ramsey and the Steelers during the 2026 regular season.
