BLACKSBURG, Va. (WCYB) — Virginia Tech fell in its home ACC opener on Friday; however, the offensive performance was a bright spot for the Hokies.
Ethan Grunkemeyer threw for 434 yards and three touchdowns, while also leading the Hokies on a late drive to get in position for the game-winning field goal.
Although the kick missed wide left, Head Coach James Franklin believes that his squad showed fight on the final drive.
“It was gutsy; we made some big plays in big moments,” Franklin said. “We work two-minute drives every single week, and we gave ourselves a chance to win the game.”
The Hokies will look to bounce back next week with a road trip to take on Cal.
