Robert A. Dougherty
OBITUARY
Robert A. Dougherty, 94, of Allentown, passed away on October 2, 2026 at Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the loving husband of the late Jean B. Dougherty. They were married for 70 years on June 23, 2026. Robert worked in the office at the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation until retiring. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Thomas and Emma (Morgan) Dougherty. Robert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown.
Robert sang with the Bethlehem Bach Choir for 38 years. Robert joined the Greenleaf Lodge No. 561 F. & A. M. Valley of Allentown Consistory 32nd degree. Robert was a member of the Rajah Shrine units Chanters – Trustee, Directors Staff – Past President, and Hillbillies – Keeper of the Quill. Robert attended Penn State University and was a fan of their football and wrestling teams.
Survivors: Sons: David Dougherty and his wife Sharon of Allentown, William Dougherty and his wife Colleen of Strasburg, PA and Scott Dougherty and his wife Lisa of Bethlehem, 5 Grandchildren: Robert (Alexandria), Liam, Ivana, Greg (Lindsay), and Patrick and a Great-Granddaughter: Sophie.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown 3231 W. Tilghman St. Allentown. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. in the Church. Interment: Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem. Arrangements by the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
