A new Quinnipiac University poll reveals how Pennsylvania voters feel about congressional control and the governor’s race as the midterm elections approach.

The poll shows that more than half of likely Pennsylvania voters want the Democratic Party to control the U.S. House, while 39% prefer the Republican Party to remain in power.

In the state’s gubernatorial race, 59% of likely voters support incumbent Gov. Josh Shapiro, compared to 34% backing Republican challenger and current state Treasury Secretary Stacy Garrity. Both candidates lead among voters aligned with their respective parties, but Shapiro also leads among independents, 62% to 23%.

The poll also found that just over half of voters are either very satisfied or somewhat satisfied with the direction of the commonwealth. Additionally, nearly three-quarters of voters approve of Gov. Shapiro’s job performance.
