Flu season is in full swing, prompting local health officials to emphasize the importance of preventive healthcare measures.

The Erie County Department of Health hosted its second annual “Boo to the Flu” vaccine event today at the health department’s offices on West 2nd Street. Community members were able to receive flu and COVID-19 vaccinations while also picking up free COVID-19, flu, and RSV test kits.

The event was designed to make important health resources more accessible as respiratory illnesses become more common during the fall and winter months.

The LECOM Institute for Successful Living for Healthy Resources partnered with the health department for the event, helping connect residents with healthcare information and services aimed at keeping the community healthy and protected throughout the season.

Health officials encourage residents to stay up to date on recommended vaccinations and take advantage of available resources to reduce the spread of illness and protect themselves and their families.
