PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A driver has died after a crash on Wednesday afternoon in West Philadelphia that also left another driver and a pedestrian injured.
The crash happened just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of North 52nd Street and Westminster Avenue.
According to police, a Chevrolet Traverse was traveling westbound on Westminster Avenue when it struck the rear of a Nissan Sentra that was stopped at a red light.
The Chevrolet then struck a Lexus traveling eastbound on Westminster Avenue before leaving the roadway, striking a pedestrian and coming to rest against a building.

The 51-year-old male driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 2:12 p.m.
The driver of the Nissan was evaluated at the scene and released. The driver of the Lexus was transported to Lankenau Medical Center in stable condition.
The pedestrian was transported to Einstein Medical Center with a leg injury.
Action News obtained surveillance video of the crash. It shows the SUV slamming into a pedestrian on the sidewalk.
We paused the video before impact, but the force caused the pedestrian to fly through the air before landing on the ground. Then several bystanders can be seen running over to help.
We spoke to one neighbor who witnessed the incident. She says three people were on the sidewalk at the time, including a woman, a man and a young child.
She says someone rescued the child from under the car while others were assisting the woman who was struck.
The neighbor didn’t want to show her face on camera but got emotional when asked why she rushed to help.
“I got a son, so I understand what she was going through worrying about her baby because I love my son to death. I just understand what a mom would be going through. I wouldn’t have been worrying about myself either. I would have been worrying about my baby,” she said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The initial report from the scene indicated that multiple pedestrians were injured, but so far only one pedestrian injury has been confirmed.
