Students under 18 must be accompanied by adult 21 or older
Pittsburgh Public Schools has announced a chaperone requirement for students to attend games at Cupples Stadium.
The new policy begins Thursday, one week after a shooting injured three teenagers near the stadium in the city’s South Side neighborhood following a high school football game.
PPS said students under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult who is 21 or older and who has to stay in the stadium throughout the event.
All students will need to show a valid student identification to enter the stadium, according to the announcement.

Gates will close at the start of the third quarter, with no more fans being admitted after the closure.
“Outside food, drinks and drinking containers, including Yeti, Stanley, Gatorade and similar containers, are prohibited. Only unopened bottles of water will be permitted,” the announcement said.
A clear bag policy will also be put into effect, starting with the football games scheduled for Oct. 15. PPS said players, coaches and “authorized staff” are exempt.
