Families will have a chance to step into the magical world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this weekend as the Erie Children’s Museum welcomes cast members from Erie Playhouse Youtheatre’s upcoming production for a special interactive event.
The free-with-admission event, “A Wonky Wonderful Afternoon,” will take place on October 10, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the museum. No registration is required.
The festivities begin with STEAM Time with Wonka in the Erie Eats area. Children will join Willy Wonka and Charlie Bucket in creating pudding slime, giving young visitors an opportunity to explore science through hands-on experimentation. Organizers say the activity is designed to encourage creativity, curiosity, and imaginative thinking.
From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., families can meet cast members from the production, learn choreography alongside Violet and her Gum Chompin’ Divas, take photos with the characters, and enjoy a sneak peek of scenes from the upcoming show.
The afternoon will conclude with a special ticket giveaway at 2:45 p.m. One lucky family will win four tickets to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Erie Playhouse.
The Youtheatre production is scheduled to run Oct. 16 through Oct. 25, offering audiences a chance to experience the beloved story live on stage. Organizers say pairing the museum event with a theater visit creates an opportunity for children to explore, create, imagine, and play while connecting with the arts.
Additional information about the museum event is available through the Erie Children’s Museum, while tickets for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can be purchased through the Erie Playhouse website.
