PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — The GIANT Company is giving back and hoping to help families get the Thanksgiving meal they deserve this year.
The GIANT Company will be giving away nearly 20,000 turkeys and turkey breasts to 35 food banks across multiple states, including Pennsylvania. They estimated that the turkeys will provide nearly 200,000 servings for and ahead of the holiday.

“The GIANT Company’s commitment to serving others and giving back to our neighbors happens year-round, but is especially important during the holidays,” John Ruane, president of The GIANT Company said. “Everyone deserves a full plate, and this year’s donations will deliver turkeys – the centerpiece of many Thanksgiving meals – to families in need throughout our local communities this holiday season.”
They noted that, along with donating food, workers will also be donating their time to help local food banks pack hunger relief boxes, organize and restock their pantry shelves.
“We are heading into the holiday season where so many family celebrations are typically centered around food. More neighbors are turning to the charitable food system for help than at any other point since the pandemic,” Jay Worrall, president, Helping Harvest Fresh Food Bank, said. “While we always appreciate the generosity of our retail partners like The GIANT Company, this turkey donation carries extra weight this year due to the challenges being faced by so many of our neighbors.”
