Nine people died in a shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday night, including the suspected shooter.
A man went into a home and shot multiple people before taking his own life, according to Erie police.
When officers responded to the home on Perry Street around 5 p.m. on Friday, they found two women lying dead in the street outside.
The shooter was inside and after a standoff with police, the man took his own life.
Five others, including children, were found dead inside the home.
Witnesses also told police they saw the person firing shots before entering the home.
Erie police chief Rick Lorah described the scene as one of the most difficult and heartbreaking scenes he has encountered.
“The loss of life is devastating, and the circumstances we are working through are deeply disturbing. Our hearts are with the victims, their families, and everyone affected by this tragedy,” said Lorah.
