The Santa parades in both Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are set for Saturday, Nov. 22. A very jolly person might be able to make it to both. Later in the season, Hazleton will hold multiple parades.
The Scranton grand marshall is Wally the Adventure and Therapy Dog.
The downtown Scranton parade starts at 9:15 a.m. and finishes at noon. It steps off from the corner of Biden Street and Franklin Avenue, proceeds up Biden Street, turns left onto Washington Avenue, right onto Linden Street, and finishes on Adams Avenue at Courthouse Square.
Santa will be available for photos at the end of the parade.
It will be broadcast live on WNEP. Updates are posted on Facebook.
The holiday version of the Scranton Public Market, in the Marketplace at Steamtown, Lackawanna Avenue, will coincide with the end of the parade. The family-friendly market runs from noon to 5 p.m. It will feature live music and more than 50 vendors, including food and local art.
In Wilkes-Barre, the Santa parade begins at 3 p.m. and ends with the lighting of the city tree on Public Square, according to the city website.
The parade will start at South Main and South streets. It will travel north along South Main Street, around Public Square, passing the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, and then the reviewing stand, finally ending at the intersection of North Main and Union streets.
In Hazleton, plans are being finalized for a Santa parade that will visit separate parts of the city of three different Sundays. The dates are Dec. 7, Dec. 14 and Dec. 21. Each will end at the Hayden Family Center for the Arts, 31 W. Broad St., for photos with Santa and a Christmas Village.
