PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — With pomp and circumstance, Community College of Philadelphia officially installed its new president on Friday.
At a ceremony at the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Dr. Alycia Marshall was formally installed as the seventh president of the Community College of Philadelphia. She served as interim president after president Guy Generals was ousted last year, and was appointed to the permanent position last October.
Wearing her red presidential regalia, Marshall said that as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, she experienced the same uncertainty and hope that her students feel today.
“The mission of CCP is so deeply personal to me because when I see students walking on our campus, I see many versions of myself.”
But Marshall promised that CCP would provide the same support and confidence that she received.
“As this is a day of looking forward, I believe we can still do more. Because the greatest value of CCP is not just measured in dollars and cents; it is measured in people.”
