With more snow expected in the forecast, the Erie Streets Department is paying close attention to the overnight conditions.
The department started salting the streets throughout the city around 11:00 p.m. Sunday, once the snow started falling.
On Monday, crews were able to clear all of the streets without having to plow, by using road salt.
The city is using seven salt trucks, which are split up between the east and west side of the city, with one truck being dedicated to downtown Erie.
On Tuesday, if the snow starts to stick, they will focus on the main runs.
Street crews will focus on the odd/even parking areas starting at 7:00 a.m.
On Tuesday afternoon, second and third shift crews will then move into the outlying parts of the city.
“The odd/even parking is the biggest thing of concern,” said Erie Streets Bureau Chief Billy Wegelin.  “You get into those one-way streets, and they are parked on both sides of the road.  It’s very hard for those plows to get through there.  Other than that, stay away from the trucks.  They all have signs that say stay 50 feet back.  You don’t want to be closer than that because you can get your car hit with salt.”Â
