Authorities say the 51-year-old woman and the 37-year-old woman were outside the Perry Street home, pounding on the door.
When the 45-year-old gunman opened the door, he shot and killed both women.
Authorities say the 5-year-old boy and the 1-year-old girl were both found on the first floor of the home, while the rest of the victims were found in a second-floor stairwell.
The victims in that stairwell included the 24-year-old woman who was 8 months pregnant when she was killed.
The Gunman
The suspect was found on the second floor from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Some scenes stay with you long after you leave them. This is one of those scenes,” Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah.
Officials have not released the identities of those who were killed or the gunman. That information will be provided by the medical examiner’s office at a later time.
