Other book sales
The Great American Book Sale, held in June this year, is the top annual fundraiser for the Friends of the Erie County Library in support of the Erie County Public Library system. Other seasonal sales this year included the Book Lover’s Sale in February and Swing Into Spring Sale in May.
Funds from the sales are used to help increase, improve and promote the resources and services of the public library. The organization provides more than $80,000 annually toward library programs, according to Friends of the Erie County Library website.
The organization held a donation book drive on Sept. 26 at the Flo Fabrizio Ice Center at 527 W. 38th St. to collect items for future sales, including the S-Book-Tacular Book Sale.
Friends funds classes, events and programs through the sales. The organization also provides matching funds for grants to meet needs not funded otherwise.
