Diane Strasburger Spencer
OBITUARY
Diane Strasburger Spencer, age 73, of Scranton, PA, passed away on Friday, October 9th. 2026.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Willard and Ann Ferke Strasburger of Scranton. Diane was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1971.
During her lifetime, Diane worked at Super Market Services for over 20 years and Adams Manor for several years. Before her health declined, Diane spent her retirement caring for her beloved grandchildren.
Diane was an avid gardener. Her yard was beautifully decorated with all kinds of plants and flowers reflecting her deep appreciation of the outdoors. In her younger years, she enjoyed spending time at her familys lake house and taking long walks with her dogs.
Diane deeply loved animals, especially her cherished dogs and cats. She cared for every pet with extraordinary devotion, love, and comfort.
Diane lovingly transformed her home through hard work and a talent for interior decorating. Her decorative chickens and other touches made it unmistakably hers. Diane could make any meal feel gourmet, and her family will especially miss her homemade soups.
Those who knew Diane will remember her as deeply loving and wholehearted in all she did. This was evident in how she raised her son and cared for her grandchildren. For years, she watched her grandchildren during the day and helped shape who they are today. Even as her health declined and limited her mobility, her love and devotion never wavered. Riley and Jack will always carry her love and memories with them.
Her son, Matthew, was the light of her life. Dianes love for him was evident to everyone she met. She encouraged him never to give up and gave him the confidence and values to succeed. Their countless memories and her enduring legacy will always remain with him. These values will live on through his children and future generations.
She is survived by her son, Matthew Spencer, daughter-in-law Katie of Dunmore, PA, and grandchildren, Riley and Jack. Additional surviving family members include nephew, Branden Strasburger of Duryea, niece Laura Strasburger of Scranton and sister-in-law Lucy Strasburger of Scranton.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Strasburger and a sister, Phyllis Merrigan.
In keeping with her wishes, interment of cremains will be held privately.
