A man has died after falling into the Allegheny River on Tuesday afternoon, Pittsburgh Public Safety officials said.

River Rescue and other first responders were dispatched to the Downtown side of the river between the Sixth and Seventh Street bridges for reports of a man who fell from the riverwalk into the river around 3:15 p.m.

Officials said divers located the man and brought him to the surface at 3:46 p.m.

Medics performed CPR and transported the man to a hospital where he later died.

Cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner.

The man’s name was not released as of late Tuesday.
