A store selling a variety of items, including antiques, electronics, tools and sports memorabilia, will soon join the retail landscape in downtown Olyphant.
Queen City Vendors, 210 W. Lackawanna Ave., will open Nov. 15, manager Leeann Melley said.
The business, owned by Caitlin and Lisandro Hernandez — is located in the former Happy Days building.
Melley, who moved to Olyphant from Duryea, feels Lackawanna Avenue is on a positive trajectory, from businesses opening and expanding to the renovations of properties.
“That street really seems to be building itself up a lot,” she said. “It seems like a busy street — busy enough, anyway, to get the word out. We just think it’s a nice community, and (the store) would be something that I hope everyone would enjoy.”
Among the offerings, the store will also feature handcrafted products, repurposed denim, all-natural dog treats, old-fashioned candy and soda pop, made-to-order graphic T-shirts and hand-spun crystals, Melley said.
Additionally, Melley noted there will be an opportunity to expand the business in the future.
“There is a whole other section in the back, and the upcoming vision would be to get that area up and running as well, but we didn’t want to miss the holiday season,” she said.
Customers can check the Queen City Vendors Facebook page for special holiday hours in the coming weeks, Melley said.
Olyphant Mayor Jonathan Sedlak believes Queen City Vendors will be a valuable addition to the borough’s business scene.
“We have our row of shops, and being able to get something into Happy Days certainly strikes a nice balance in town,” he said. “Having a couple of different vendors in there, with a couple different varieties, to pair with the shops we already have, we’re hoping for the best for them. With the holiday season coming up, getting more people in town and more foot traffic going around store to store, I think it’s an excellent fit, and I’m excited to go in and see it.”
