Three people were taken to hospitals following a predawn house fire Friday in Drexel Hill.

The call went out at 4:23 a.m. in the 3800 block of Albemarle Avenue just off Burmont Road.

Upper Darby Assistant Fire Chief Robert Callahan said the initial call was for people trapped.

Crews arrived to find fire showing from a second-floor front bedroom of the two-and-a-half story twin.

Four residents lived in the home. Two adults were evaluated and taken to Lankenau Medical Center. A 10-year-old boy was evaluated and transported to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Callahan said the fire was quickly knocked down and crews opened up walls to check for extension. There was no extension into the adjoining home.

The whereabouts of a teen daughter have not been determined.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The incident was placed under control about 30 minutes in.
