A new laundromat was expected to open on Erie’s east side on Oct. 16.

Lucky’s Laundry, on Parade Street at East 18th Street, is owned by Erie entrepreneur Kulwant “Lucky” Singh, best known for his Lucky’s Food Mart stores and Speed Check gas stations and convenience stores.

There is a Speed Check opposite the laundromat on East 18th Street.

Why a laundromat?

The newly built laundromat is Singh’s first.

“Several customers told me they have to go too far to do laundry and would I please open a laundromat in their neighborhood,” Singh said.

“People kept telling me that. And I listened.”

About the business

Lucky’s Laundry has 60 state-of-the-art washers and dryers, Singh said. An attendant will be on hand during laundromat hours from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.

Laundry service will be self-serve. Payment will be by cards available for purchase at the laundromat. Cards can be loaded in various dollar amounts and used until the pre-paid funds are depleted.
