Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth went down with a calf injury and is now questionable to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is unknown when Freiermuth suffered the injury, but he is in danger of missing the team’s game when they are already down three wide receivers.

Star wide receiver DK Metcalf, however, was removed from the injury report after initially being questionable with an illness. That means the team will at least have their top wide receiver despite realistic questions on just how the team’s pass catcher situation will ricochet due to injuries.

If Freiermuth can not play, the Steelers will lean more into Robert Tonyan and rookie fullback and tight end Riley Nowakowski. The Steelers also called up wide receivers Brandon Smith and Brandon Johnson to add to some of the depth at that position.

The Steelers have rode the seesaw of players over the last few weeks with all of the injuries popping up, and now Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson have landed on injured reserve with significant injuries. Meanwhile, Ben Skowronek will miss multiple weeks with a calf injury suffered against the Indianapolis Colts.
