PITTSBURGH, PA — Sheetz is adding to its already impressive Pittsburgh-area presence.

Monroeville council on Tuesday approved plans for a new convenience store and gas station at 4503 Old William Penn Highway near Gateway High School. The property currently is currently occupied by Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

The news first was reported by WTAE-TV.

In a recent message posted on the Good Shepherd website, church officials stated they were investigating the idea of moving to the parish house on a portion of the property that Sheetz doesn’t intend to use.

“We understand that it would require renovation to make the space usable for worship, meetings, kitchen and fellowship,” the message stated. “The (church council) would be prepared to hire an architect to design such a renovation plan including the building of an accessible, finished basement or a small addition to ensure sufficient space for our needs.”
