Three people were injured when nearly two dozen shots were fired at a North Philadelphia home Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said the shooting occurred inside and outside a home around 10 a.m. on the 2800 block of North 20th Street. Two women and a man were riddled with bullets.

Authorities said a 49-year-old woman was shot 11 times and a 29-year-old man was shot three times in the leg. They were both taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

A 27-year-old woman who was shot six times was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The shooting left neighbors shaken and raised broader concerns about gun violence and safety in the community.

“It’s a tragedy,” a relative of the victims said.

The relative asked not to be identified. She said she arrived at the scene after the shooting and saw bullet casings and blood on the street.

“Bullet casings, blood. That’s pretty much all I gotta say,” she said. “The streets of Philadelphia. We need help. We need some help. I just hope that everybody recovers.”

For some residents, the violence is frightening. For others, it has become an all-too-familiar part of life in the neighborhood.

“It’s not surprising,” Arlacey Chambers, who has lived in the neighborhood for eight years, said. “You witness people get shot all the time.”

Chambers said she has witnessed gun violence before, including a shooting at a nearby store.

Despite those experiences, she said residents continue to work to maintain a sense of community.

“We try to keep it clean, we try to keep it organized,” she said. “You just never know.”

For Elyce Rivera, the threat of gun violence is concerning because of her three children, ages 14, 8 and 3.

“It’s kind of like alarming, honestly,” Rivera said.

Rivera said the possibility of gunfire puts her family on edge.

“That’s scary because my husband is outside all the time as well,” she said. “Bullets have no names on them, have no names on them.”

Police have not released details about what led to the shooting or said whether anyone has been taken into custody.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and contact police.
