COLUMBUS, Pa. — A 14-year-old boy has died from injuries suffered in a large house fire Sunday in Columbus Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The boy had been flown to a hospital in Akron, Ohio, after the fire at 65 West Main Street. A 16-year-old girl and the children’s father remain hospitalized in Pittsburgh.

Six family members were inside the home when the fire broke out shortly after 2 p.m. Three were flown outside the region for treatment of burns and heat-related injuries, while three others were taken to Corry Hospital.

Corry Fire Chief Chris Lyon said firefighters rescued two people who were trapped on the second floor.

Crews from Erie and Warren counties and western New York responded as flames spread through all three floors and the attic. Firefighters also encountered hoarding conditions, blocked doors and windows and balloon-frame construction that allowed the fire to spread through concealed spaces.

It took about three hours to bring the fire under control.

Four Corry firefighters required medical treatment for smoke inhalation. One also suffered an arm injury.

Lyon ordered the severely damaged home demolished because of unsafe conditions. It was torn down Monday.

A Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal is assisting with the investigation into the cause of the fire.
