State lawmakers are at odds over accusations that Republicans walked away from a deal to legalize skill games in Pennsylvania, as a state Supreme Court ruling last week made the games illegal.
Lawmakers have left Harrisburg and are not expected to return until after the midterm elections.
State House Majority Leader Matt Bradford said lawmakers had reached a deal but claimed Senate Republicans refused to vote on it.
In a statement to News 8 political reporter Tom Lehman, Pittman said, “With the Supreme Court ruling earlier this year, there was hope that consensus on a responsible and reasonable gaming framework could be reached as part of the budget process. It is unfortunate Democrats abandoned those efforts over the summer when there was adequate time to come to an agreement.”
He added, “I continue to strongly believe there needs to be a regulatory framework in place, but as we have seen, gaming reform is no doubt complex and requires agreement on numerous levels.”
