People in Erie had an opportunity to safely dispose of expired or unwanted prescription medications during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday.
The Erie Police Department partnered with UPMC for the event, which took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Erie City Hall.
In addition to medication drop-offs, free naloxone and drug disposal kits were available. Officials emphasized the importance of keeping unused prescriptions out of the home to help prevent misuse and accidental overdoses.
Other drop-off locations across the region included the VA Medical Center and the Millcreek Township Building.
