The 10 Best
South Jersey Pizzerias

Featured from Camden County:
Brooklyn Original Pizzeria

Brooklyn Original Pizzeria Square Pie

Where: 908 W Kings Hwy, Haddon Heights
Details: Brooklyn Original Pizzeria — found in an unassuming business strip along Kings Highway — has a ton of different pizzas. In fact, they have over 30 different round and square pies from Classic, Meat, and Veggie options to Filippo’s Creations. (Brooklyn-born and Sicily-raised Chef Filippo Sparacio offers eight signature pies available as either round or square Sicilian pies.) Their fan favorite Brooklyn square pies are always well done with a crispy crunch, but never burnt. As for which one is best, it’s a toss up between the Drunken Grandma pie and the Honeymoon. The latter blends fresh mozzarella with pepperoni, sausage, & tomato sauce topped with Mike’s Hot Honey & basil. When it comes to those signature Creations, we also recommend the Wise Guy as a thin crust round pie. This flavor-packed pie comes topped with spicy marinara, hot sopressata, burrata, fresh mozzarella, Parmesan, oregano, EVOO, and basil.

Backdoor Pizza

Where: Cherry Hill
Details: A survival pivot during COVID, Backdoor Pizza has since turned into one of the best pizzerias in South Jersey. (Yes, it is stylized as one word, Backdoor.) The entrance to pick up these popular pies — available only from 4:15pm – 7:59pm — is the literal back door of The Farm and Fisherman Tavern. Their thin crust pies are the perfect mix of chewy and crunchy, and their rotating seasonal pies ensure there is always a reason to come back. We recommend the Sausage Bar Pie with house made fennel sausage and sweet chili jam.

Bricco Coal Fired Pizza

Where: Westmont | Cherry Hill
Details: Bricco uses a coal-fired oven to cook aged dough that delivers a perfectly crispy crust. (aka “Old World New York-style Pizza”.) They offer both 12″ and 16″ pies with three specific options. The Bianco is their take on a white pie; the Marinara is tomato, basil, oregano, and garlic with no cheese; and their signature Bricco is a classic tomato and mozzarella pie. Aside from these three, you can build your own pie from their selection of cheeses, proteins, and veggies. We recommend a pie with buffalo mozzarella and roasted chicken.

Genova Pizza

Where: Audubon
Details: If you live in South Jersey and love Grandma Pies, your search is over. Genova Pizza is the spot. Their square pies are all hand made daily and bathed in EVOO for 3 hours. The Classic Grandma pie is made with shredded mozzarella, minced garlic, tomato sauce, and fresh basil. For something a little extra, we recommend Grandma’s Buff Chicken featuring diced chicken tossed in hot sauce and buttermilk ranch. They also serve Sicilian squares and regular round pies, but honestly nothing beats the classic Grandma Pie.

Holy Tomato

Where: Blackwood
Details: Holy Tomato is, of course, known for their tomato pie. But they have plenty of other classic and specialty pizzas. For instance, the thin crust Red Pie features hand crushed tomatoes, garlic, oregano, and olive oil without any cheese. Patrons also love the Honey Buffalo Chicken Pie with mozzarella, garlic, shredded chicken, plus sweet and spicy honey buffalo sauce. For something different, try the “Holy Pickle” with dill pickles, seasoned fried onion petals, dill cream sauce, and a light hot honey drizzle.

Lillo’s Tomato Pies

Where: Hainesport
Details: Lillo’s is equally famous for their Trenton style tomato pies and homemade cheesesteaks. But its the former we’ll be discussing for the purposes of this list. The family-owned restaurant is run by Lisa, John, and Lillo Paxia, and their goal is simple: To serve the state’s best tomato pies alongside unforgettable specialty pizzas. These traditional round tomato pies are crispy but never burnt, and require no extra toppings. If you can handle ordering two pizzas, we also recommend trying one of their authentic Mustard Pies.

Palermo’s

Where: Bordentown
Details: The specialty at Palermo’s is the Trenton-style tomato pie. This fan favorite pizza is made with a thin crust as well as a hearty tomato sauce and mozzarella. But they also serve traditional pies and gourmet pies. Some standouts include the BLT — bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo as a white pie — as well as the Dirty Clam. The latter comes spinach and clams. Vodka sauce fans should try both the Vodka Rigatoni and Vodka Margarita pies. Palermo’s also makes a great, thin Brooklyn Pie with homemade mozzarella and basil.

Pepperoni Pizza & Grill

Where: Oaklyn
Details: Indeed, the name of this pizzeria is literally Pepperoni Pizza. (Thankfully the “& Grill” helps clear up any SEO confusion.) Locals rave about their traditional round pies featuring seasoned sauces and crispy crust. Their classic cheese pizza is a reliable option for any pizza night. Beyond that, they have a handful of specialty pies that are worth the trip. This includes their Signature Pizza, a fresh take on the upside down pie with mozzarella cheese on the bottom and sauce on top, layered with fresh basil, Italian seasoning, and olive oil.

Polizzi’s Brick Oven Pizza

Where: Sewell
Details: Polizzi’s proudly proclaims itself as the first brick oven pizzeria in Washington Township to serve Detroit-style pies. Their authentic 313 Detroit pie (the area code for Detroit) is made in 10″x14″ Detroit-style pans. These square pans help create the pie’s signature charred cheese crust. Their naturally-fermented dough is proofed and baked in these pans, then topped with crushed tomato sauce. Toppings are optional, but we recommend sticking with the original version for an authentic taste of Detroit-style pizza.

Rocco’s Pizza & Italian Restaurant

Where: Florence
Details: This family owned and operated spot — by Rocco, Anna, Luca and Lorenzo — celebrated 50 years of business in 2025. And it’s no wonder, because one bite of their round Neapolitan pie will have you wondering if this pizzeria is in Florence, NJ or Florence, Italy. But surprisingly enough, it’s actually their thin crust Brooklyn Pizza that locals love the most. It features the perfect blend of plum tomato sauce, fresh basil, and EVOO. We recommend the Drunk in Brooklyn pie with fresh mozzarella and romano, topped with vodka sauce and parsley.
