The University of Scranton welcomed internationally known Jesuit priest, author and speaker Rev. James Martin, S.J. H’17, as the featured presenter at its annual Ignatian Values in Action Lecture, held Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Byron Recreation Complex.
Father Martin participated in a discussion and question-and-answer session hosted by Teresa Grettano, Ph.D., associate professor of English and Theatre and president of Faculty Senate.
Drawing from his acclaimed book, “Searching for God at Ground Zero,” Father Martin discussed how individuals can encounter God’s presence amid suffering and uncertainty. He shared stories of resilience and faith and encouraged audience members to recognize that grace, healing and spiritual growth can reveal themselves even in life’s most difficult moments.
