Pennsylvania State Police and the Meadville City Police Department are renewing their appeal for information in the disappearance of Debra Sue Daniel, offering a $2,000 reward for information that helps solve the case.
Daniel was 61 years old when she disappeared on August 13, 2022. Investigators say she lived at Holland Towers in Meadville and was known for her love of animals, especially dogs. Family and friends say she maintained frequent contact with them, often speaking several times a day by phone.
According to investigators, Daniel did not own a vehicle but regularly traveled to visit her mother at Edinboro Manor in Edinboro. She was last seen leaving Holland Towers with a known man, getting into a vehicle, and departing the area.
Authorities say Daniel has not been seen or heard from since that day. She did not make any phone calls, send text messages, or contact friends or family after she was captured on surveillance footage leaving her apartment building.
Police also clarified earlier reports suggesting Daniel may have been seen at Edinboro Manor on August 15, 2022. Investigators have since determined that information was incorrect and say she never arrived at the nursing home on August 13 or at any time afterward.
Family members told investigators they do not believe Daniel would have voluntarily cut off contact with loved ones, stopped visiting her mother, or left behind her personal belongings. Authorities say there has been no activity involving her Social Security number, social media accounts, or financial accounts since her disappearance.
As the investigation progressed, detectives learned the known man traveled with Daniel to State Game Lands 69 at some point after the pair left Holland Towers.
Daniel was described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a navy-blue short-sleeve shirt, dark pants, and black shoes with thick white soles. She was also carrying a cell phone, cigarettes, a clear water bottle with a black lid, black sunglasses, and wearing rings on her left ring and middle fingers.
The case was initially investigated by Meadville City Police as a missing persons case. However, information uncovered during the investigation later led Pennsylvania State Police to open a homicide investigation. Both agencies continue to work together on the case.
Investigators stress that even seemingly minor details could prove critical in helping solve the case.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Pennsylvania State Police at the Meadville station and ask for Trooper Geibel at (814) 332-6911, call the PSP Tips line at 1-800-472-8477, or submit information online through the PSP Tips website.
