A multi-vehicle crash and juice spill prompted a lengthy overnight closure on Interstate 78 in Northampton County.

A tractor-trailer in the eastbound lane crossed over the median and hit another tractor-trailer heading westbound about 9 p.m. near mile marker 64 in Lower Saucon Township, according to a state police news release. Another tractor-trailer heading westbound hit the tractor-trailer that crossed over the median, which then caused it to overturn and spill containers of cranberry juice all over the road, police said.

A transit van was also hit during the incident, the release states. The driver of the tractor-trailer that overturned suffered injuries and was hospitalized.

Traffic on I-78 westbound was closed in the area until about 5:15 a.m. Tuesday while police investigated and cleared the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
