For the eighth consecutive year, Mercyhurst University will participate in the national “I Stand with Immigrants” Campus Day of Action, an initiative that reflects the Sisters of Mercy’s commitment to immigration advocacy and support for immigrant communities.

The university has planned two events on October 27, aimed at fostering solidarity, understanding, and dialogue around the immigrant experience.

The day begins with Prayers for Immigrants at 12:20 p.m. at the Mary Grotto. Organizers say the brief prayer service will offer students, faculty, and community members an opportunity to gather in support of immigrants living in the United States.

Later in the afternoon, at 3:30 p.m., Mercyhurst will host a panel discussion featuring New American students in the Multicultural Lounge of the Student Union. During the discussion, students will share their personal experiences as immigrants, offering insight into the challenges and opportunities they have encountered while building new lives in the United States.

University organizers say the events are intended to promote awareness, encourage meaningful conversation, and demonstrate support for immigrants both on campus and throughout the broader community.

The Campus Day of Action is held annually at colleges and universities across the country, bringing attention to immigration issues and celebrating the contributions immigrants make to communities nationwide.
