READING, Pa. – A man who served time for the death of a Reading police officer is back behind bars.

The Berks County District Attorney said Andrew Lee Smith has been sentenced to 12 to 24 years in state prison for a conviction earlier this year in a weapons case.

Authorities said Smith wasn’t allowed to have a gun due to prior convictions, including involuntary manslaughter in the death of Officer Michael Wise in 2004.
